I echo most of the above sentiments. You have what is arguably still the best gasser towing setup, even compared to new pickups.
The Alli is the gold standard that all other light truck transmissions are compared to ( not that the newer options aren't almost, or as good) and I'm not aware of any of the new gasser HD pickups that will pull harder than the 8.1.
If you've meticulously maintained the truck, I would expect few to no surprises with that setup.
In fact, if I had that truck I would only consider upgrading if I wanted a new car smell or a diesel!
I had an 02, but with a Dmax, and although I sold it at like 125kmi, it was the LEAST expensive truck I've ever owned or driven for repairs.
In that time period, other than routine maint and wear parts, I only replaced the NSBU switch on the trans (do it now if you haven't) and 1 window regulator.
When I sold it, it wasn't due to ANY impending major or minor repairs except that the LB7s were known for bad injectors. I still had good balance rates on those too.
