In addition to killing gas mileage, high speed pushes the tires and many HD tires are just not rated for more than 70 mph. The other issue is stopping. A truck camper means a heavy rig that is not going to stop quickly. Keeping the speed down makes a big difference in seeing trouble ahead and being able to stop in time. There are lots of highways where the truck speed limit is lower than the speed limit for cars just for those reasons.
