burningman, good info. My lift is for a SRW. I now have a DRW so I have to modify the lift. My DRW is also higher than my SRW. Simply stated, I am considering attaching a 2"x4" tubing on edge to the lift plate. Then from the tubing extend Unistrut toward the TC wall. I'm thinking the unistrut in maybe four places per side. I will gusset the tubing and lift plate. The tubing will be the full length of the side overhang, providing a greater lifting surface spreading the load while moving the mounting down four inches.
To the OP. Hopefully we are not hijacking your thread. If so please let us know.
In determining the width, Swing your existing jacks out. Make your lift at least that wide. As for legal width, in California I think it is 102 inches plus tiedown equipment. I think to total is 110 inches. I may stand corrected on this. The lift does tie the TC to the truck, acting as tie down equipment.
