Hope to see more mpg reports, both towing and unloaded, and and answer to the premium gas question. Nice to see some happy ecoboost owners.
I have done 3 tanks in mine so far. All three have been between 18.3 and 18.8 mpg. My commute is about 70/30 city/highway, but a lot of my 'city' is on 45 mph expressway type roads. I hand calculate each tank, and the trip computer has been right on for each tank (i mean, w/in .1 mpg, which is pretty close!).
In comparison, my '06 2500 diesel was usually around 15 mpg for the same type of driving.
I've actually used 85 octane for my first 3 tanks. Up here in Utah, due to elevation, 85 is our 'regular,' and I've always thought that it performed the same as 87. After reading my manual last week and realizing that it wants at least 87 octane regardless of elevation, I'll be using that from now on.
I haven't had a chance to really tow yet, other than a 15 mile test loop to make sure the trailer brake controller was squared away. Looking forward to our first long trip w/ the truck over Memorial Day weekend. I'll post back w/ a report.
