No, the Taurus is a "part-time" AWD, rear drive is engaged ONLY for acceleration from a stop or at low speed. There is NO road-racer given the understanding of the Taurus method for implementing AWD that wouldn't consider it dangerous.
In normal use the front tires must "slip" before the rear drive will be engaged. But due to the immediate HAZARDS arising from even the slightest level of front tire slippage, loss of directional control, the designers chose to also engage TC, INSTANT, FULL engine dethrottling accompanied by TC braking of the front wheels.
The MDX has the only truly functional front drive based AWD system, SH-AWD.
