Well, finally was able to hitch up the #5000 TT to the F150 in my sig.. :)I noticed a difference from the old 97 F150 just hitching it up! The new one didn't sag as much as the old one. (about half as much).I didn't even need to extend the towing mirrors! It's only a 7.5' trailer, but I can see around it just fine with the Max Tow mirrors on it.Went East over I-90 to Wenatchee and I don't even remember the passes at all! ;) I guess that was when it downshifted to 4th and I dropped to around 60 mph and the rpms went up to around 2800.... :)While on the flats, it was hard to hold it at 65. I finally just put it in cruise so I didn't find myself going 70... :)By the time we got to Wenatchee, the comp MPG said 11.1 mpg.I like the 36 gallon tank, as I was only at 1/2 tank when we got to our site.. But, I just got gas after driving around and such and almost 22 gallons of gas cost $84.. But, that's better than the 97 for the same amount of miles.. We head home tomorrow and I actually can't wait, because I get to tow with it again! :)So, all I can say is this EcoBeast is a "TowBeast" and just love the thing! It can handle much more trailer than what I'm towing with it now, but it'll be awhile before the trailer changes... :)Mitch

Regardless of it being widespread or not, I'm sure Mitch was aware of it when making his choice. Your input here is not appropriate. From your tone, I understand your relation with other forums.

There are 3 EcoBoost 3.5L V6 equipped vehicles in out Police fleet, 1 F150 and 2 Taurus's. None have had the condensation issue, but they get the heck run out of them daily. The EcoBoost Taurus AWD sure scoots!

Small sample size I know, and I'm no where near the humid coast, so that could explain the lack of issues.

Widespread? Yes, and Ford agrees.

The higher the humidity is, the more likely will be the likelihood of experiencing misfires due to the effective (fuel/air/STEAM) CR rising so high the plug cannot fire.

Even with moderate RH driving long distances and then going WOT will often result in misfire.

Thanks wwest, I've been reading up on this issue and finding a lot of info on it on an F150ecoboost forum I just recently joined..

When I bought my 97 F150 and started doing this "interweb stuff" I was scared to death that I just sunk a butt load of $$ into a POS truck from what I was reading on it... ;)

After some 255,000 miles with it, I got lucky I guess.. I've got even more of a butt load of $$ in the 13 Eco so I'm doing my homework and finding out what I can and going to decide from there what the next step is.. That "RX CAN" mod seems to be what resolves the condensation issue so that will probably be what I look into first if I experience the issue..

All I can say is that on my first real 'tow test' with MY F150, I didn't have that issue and I was into the turbos on those passes to Wenatchee a lot.. (I took the scenic route thru Quincy just because I like it. But, I'll probably take 97 out of Cle Elem just because it has more grades next time! :)

I'll post up some "information center" pics that I took coming home today a bit later, as I've got to find them on the camera! ;)

Being "ON BOOST" often enough prevents the build up of enough condensation to "choke" the engine.
There you go!! You just solved your problem. Stay in the boost and you have nothing to worry about! Almost 3yrs of ownership with my 2011 with 41,000miles. Not a single hiccup.. Sorry you got stuck with a lemon but why don't you let the poor guy enjoy his new truck for god sakes!! Do you honestly think this condensation issue is that WIDE SPREAD?? Looking at the sales #'S OF THE ECOBOOST it certainly doesn't seem that way....

Glad you like it Mitch, the Eco was on my short list last year when I was new truck shopping, but I decided I wanted the payload of the F250. It's not my commuter so it was a no brainer and I still love it! Only 5200 miles on her in 11 months. :E

I didn't think is was that big of a problem anymore. I have seen on the early models that more people were having issues, it had seemed like it had pretty much been solved. Granted I haven't followed it that closely of late.

Ha, so that's 'you' on those sites! :) I've read all those posts too and I'm still very open minded on both sides of the fence and not decided one way or the other at this moment in time..

Gonna just see how my situation plays out and go from there..
