- gmw_photosExplorerI'm not sure if I could get a fire extinguished or not, but I do keep a rather large fire bottle in the toolbox of the truck.
Letting it burn in a crowded campground would be threatening to neighbors, so I'd want to put it out if I could. - Vw_trikerExplorerMy generator caught fire near Indianapolis last year on I70 I think. flames out the back of motorhome. Pulled over got everyone out. Didn't have a chance to let it burn, fire department was very quick, minor damage, lost generator and compartment door, insurance wouldn't cover generator, so I replaced door out of pocket, little less than deductable.

After seeing one burn...that is what I would do. What surprised me is the propane bottled didn't explode. Just made a popping noise then just added to the flames.
My brother's burned down to the frame. They go up really quickly. The fire started behind the fridge, technically outside. But that fridge compartment is a chimney. It was fully consumed in just a few minutes.
And yes, the propane tanks pop and then add fuel to the fire. The high pressure relief valves blow from the flames heating up the propane. Then they vent propane to fuel the fire. Better that than become bombs I guess. - SidecarFlipExplorer IIINever much thought about it, but in my case it would take the truck too as I have a truck camper.

- KD4UPLExplorerAs soon as it catches fire it's a total loss. Whey risk trying to save what would only be a wet, charged, smokey mess?
