Who knows at this time but I feel the cummins diesel would be more engine than needed for any 1500 model.

I tend to agree, unless Nissan offers a "HD" version of the Titan with chassis capabilities that justify the CTD's power.
Very good points. I honestly wouldn't mind having the smaller Cummins as a cheaper option for the HD's. I would like the payload of say a 2500 for a slide in camper with my boat in tow but I certainly don't need 400 hp and twist that is pushing the 1000 ftlb envelope to do it.
