Shortly after I took delivery of my ecodiesel, I got info by mail that my first four services would be at no charge. Thought it was a bit odd that it was never mentioned during negotiations with the dealer. That would have been a good selling point. I just assumed this was something included on all ed units but looks like not so. That service charge is totally extreme; most services are running $125-150 which is still absurd. For the diy'ers, several oil companies are entering the market, Kendall being the latest with properly rated oil under $5/qt. with a little research the oem filter can be had for $30. The oil filter manufacturer presently markets filters under their own label & speculation one for the ed will shortly be available sub 10 bux. Not quiet as gloomy a it appears.
When I purchased my 2010 Ram 3500 dually new, I got 4 free oil changes, same with the 12' and same with the 13'....Same with the 14' Jeep Compass the wife drives, 4 free oil changes. Nothing was mentioned, nor did I ask about them, but about 2 weeks after the purchase of these vehicles, I got information in the mail telling me the first 4 oil changes were free.
