ummm.. ok. to each his own. guess I'm missing something. If you think we paid MSRP and that's how we got screwed, well, then you're wrong. Sure, they might have a made a few bucks on the deal, but a lot less than other folks. My wife made the deal and she is very tough on salesfolks. If you mean "hey you bought a vehicle" and even if you paid $1 for it, you're not getting anything free. well, yeah, I agree.2RR2NV wrote:
I can't complain about my Chrysler dealer. free oil changes for life (actually getting another done next week). on year 6 so far. For the Dodge dealer, don't know yet. so far, they have been pretty cool, but then, I hardly ever bring in a vehicle unless I know it's covered under warranty. otherwise, I do it myself.
There's no such thing as a free lunch... And that goes for oil changes too.
So, I guess I don't understand your thought process.
but what does it matter. I'm not spending more money to get maintenance done. that's a big WOOT in my book!!! - Bionic_ManExplorerMaybe it's just me, but paying full price for this type of service seems about as likely as paying MSRP when you buy a new vehicle.
I am sure that the dealer would charge about that same price to service my CTD, but if you ask, you can get 4 changes for $200. I would be very surprised if the ED wasn't the same way. 2RR2NV wrote:

- wcjeepExplorerMy sister with new Camry is about $100 for standard oil change with required full synthetic oil at her dealer. Having a diesel cost more makes sense. My 06' Dodge diesel Wa $110 for oil change. I did my own for years until recently. Different dealer sent me a coupon for $59. Unfortunately, dealers do not include lubing the front drive shaft.

In my experience that is only true at the Dodge dealers.
Obviously, taking a truck into the dealer is gonna ask for a butt-raping.
My current dealer (Ford) is very competitive on pricing for regular service. If not for the fact I need to go there it is worth the price. Cannot do it much cheaper myself.
Yep, a Ford dealer near me is offering 3 oil changes plus safety and emissions inspection for $75. Since the inspection will run about $30+ anywhere you go, that's pretty cheap for the oil. A lot better than doing it in my driveway, plus they have the records should any warranty issues arise. I might take my Chevy in and see if they will do the same deal! - mich800Explorer

How do you figure truck stops are messier to fill up DEF:h..I fill up or top off at a truck stop about 5 miles from my house for $2.55 a gallon and have never had a mess or even spilled a drop of SWD...you sure you know how to do it?:) Much cheaper and really quite easy to do.
guess I should have clarified better. as far as actually doing the process, not messy. but the handle/setup at local truck stop was ewwww gross (was checking it out just to see what it entails). I actually haven't had to do it to mine.... yet, but will soon. I will have to deal with it when the time comes unless I find another place with cleaner facilities. just me. some people could care less. me, I sometimes get a lil picky. I doubt I'll make a mess and spill anything. would be nice if some folks were less of a messmaker. LOL - FordloverExplorerwhat I like about this is that it brings attention to the fact that you have to look at the big picture. Only focusing on one aspect (MPG or service costs) will give you a skewed view when comparing two trucks.
From what we've seen so far the ED is getting impressive fuel economy, but depressing service costs.
As far as the light they speak of that is on back order, is that a left over part from the days of Chrysler's super cheap interiors?
