First time towing with new truck=awesome!

Had my first opportunity to tow with my new truck a couple weeks ago and all I can say is wow! It's a '15 Ram 3500 DRW with 6.7, Aisin, and 3.73 gears. This coming from a '06 Ram 2500 with a six speed.

I towed my 14K lbs fifth wheel with ease like never before. To say I didn't notice the FW was back there would be an overstatement, but not by much. Towed mostly freeway and windy back roads with some grades so I got the full picture of the environment I will primary be driving in.

Rolling from a stop was easy as was merging onto the freeway. Towing up a pretty steep grade on highway 50 towards Lake Tahoe though Granite Bay was nothing. On the back roads I ran across a posted 10% grade, I didn't even know they had 10% grades. On the way there it was downhill and the exhaust brake worked fantastic. It was a windy road for about two miles and I only had to use the service brakes four or five times in short intervals. On the way back going uphill I just giggled to myself because it walked up that hill so easy, and unbelievably quietly!!

My friend was following me with a similarly equipped FW with an "06 Chevy D/A and I noticed that he was constantly behind me to the point where I had to slow down to allow him to catch up. When we got to camp he told me he simply could not keep up with me. I wasn't speeding mind you, we were just dealing with some challenging grades. BTW, not a Chevy vs. Dodge thing, his truck is nine years older than mine. I was just pleased to hear him say that, haha.

This was actually my second towing experience, but the first was driving a car trailer and a Jeep up to the Rubicon Trail. The trailer truly felt like it was not there in that occasion.

I do love this truck! I looked at everything out there and I'm very happy that I bought the truck I ended up with. The added comfort for my family in the upgraded (I hated the old Ram interior) interior was a huge bonus in the enjoyment of the trip! That and the fact that my wife told me that every guy who walked by the truck was looking longingly at it made my weekend.

The 8.4 system on mine is great. Just tell it what you want!

I have that same system...I guess I'll have to wrap my head around talking to my truck to get some things done, haha.

    It really does work well!

Change radio station, adjust climate tell it where you want to go.

Same as mine. I push VR button and go to media or satellite radio station I want to listen to, find a filling station or restaurant or tell Nav where we want to go. I've towed my 16,300# 5er (not as heavy as some) up several 7% grades on interstate I travel, tows great! Oh, after almost 32,000 miles, only issue was replacement of windshield washer motor.

    Nice report OP!

Getting ours ready as we speak to hear over the North Cascades HWY2 to Eastern WA. First tow with the little fella 39TKSB3.

Will report my impressions with about 21K dragging behind.

Hey did you get the NorthCarolina Nav System that recognizes "Carolina" ;)

Hmmm, dont know if I follow. If Im traveling in South Carolina, I'll say South Carolina...for North Carolina, I say North Carolina..I dont say, "Carolina". Same for West Virginia and Virginia. So far, 8.4/ Nav system has performed well for me.

To me you have an "accent". I was messing with you asking if your system was programmed for your area.
