It seems you found out the truth after arguing about how much better the 5.4 was for towing on multiple threads % of the time hooked. over on f150forum..... I thought it amusing at the time.
Yes, the 2011 models had a different transmission shifting strategy. The transmission upshifted much to soon and held higher gears way to long, before downshifting. 2012 and later the shift strategy was changed and allowed the transmission to get the power the engine had. Ford most likely had the lazy shift strategy to get better mileage but it crippled the power of the 5.0L.
How come you didn't use the same name that you used at F150forum?? So what name were you going by then??
The Transmission is always learning. If it takes 900 miles to learn, a visit to your dealer is in order.
If that were the case, no one would be buying Fords as they'd all seem like dogs.
The shifting issue is well known. There has been updated trans programs to address this. Perhaps you may need the reflash if it takes almost a thousand miles before it relearns your driving style.
Simple, just get the program updated on the next oil change. It's very simple and takes only a few minutes.
After all, 2011 was the first year for the new updated 6R80E and the new 5.0L. Bugs are inevitable, just correct it since Ford issued a fix.
