The Heki is a great example of a good idea, very poorly executed. If you look in the Heki users manual, it says not to leave the shade closed in hot sun.
.
This would never work for me. I know it would only be a matter of time and I would forget to open the shade up and damage would occur.it would be like forgetting to bring down the tv antenna before driving off. It's that one time I would forget.
Plus, I thought the whole point of a shade....is to shade from the sun (or evening light)??
The latest gen of Heiki has a tinted "screen" and a "night shade". The tinted screen will allow some light to pass and should be used in storage...the "night shade" completely blocks any light.
That is fine for sleeping...not so good in bright sunlight/storage apparently.
The window itself is dual-pane...unlike other hatches...while it insulates well in cold...it can also trap heat in warm conditions.
Once you understand it...it is actualy a good design.
