Fleetwood Elkhorn Construction

I am looking at buying a 2003 Fleetwood Elkhorn 9D. Are these wood frame construction or aluminum? Can't find much info on the Elkhorn campers. Any info I can get on it would be appreciated.

My 2002 Fletwood Caribou does have aluminium frame.
But it is skeleton frame only, when lot of structural beams are wood only.
As I "experienced" there is no aluminium in generator box frame, mounted in rear wing.
If you have a chance to see it, open refrigerator inspection door and with good flashlight and mirror see around the corner.
You should see aluminium if it is there.
I also have "aluminum frame" sticker on the rear.

You also have some 'nasty wood' per your pictures... and...

Your climate is a lot different than up here in Michigan.

  • I did real quick from the NATCOA forum It's wood frame construction

Goggle it up. One of the posters there posted the cut away brochute.

Conversely, my comment again will be...

If it's in Michigan with our weather extremes and it is outside and the owner did not maintain the caulk and seals, at that age, it's probably well on it's way to a rotten frame and mold.

Might be a nice winter project, then again, it might be landfill material.
