Flip Foot on Electric tongue jack

I have installed the Red Flip Foot on my electric trailer tongue jack. It worked OK UNTIL I came across a situation where the jack would not lower down enough to level the trialer without trying to flip the foot up... My first solution was to put several boards under the trailer wheels to raise the rear trailer height then try to level it and although it was a real pain, it worked... The second time this happened, I used a hydraulic bottle jack to raise the tongue, retract and fold up the flip foot, then lower the bottle jack to level the trailer.. again it worked but but not the safest way to do it..(leaving the tongue on a 3 ton hydraulic jack).. Before I take the darn thing off and place it in the trash, has anyone else had an experience with the Flip Foot and if so, how did you deal with the issue..?
  • I use one and wouldn't be without it. It is really hard to lift the tongue enough without it. The flip foot can be used in the folded position if necessary. I use a couple of 1 foot 4x4s to aid the leveling process. I try to avoid campsites where the tongue has to be lowered to achieve level.
  • Yeah, just hold the flip jack in the folded position with your foot as you put the jack down while you are un hitching if you think you'll need to lower the tongue that far. I love mine, and I've never needed to lower the front that far, but my trailer sits pretty high off the ground.
  • I use a 4x6 under the foot.I have seen setups where some folks have used a router and fashioned a cutout in the wooden block to match the foot outline.
  • I bought the longest one they have but I have a high trailer (no wheel wells) so it always works for me.

They come in different lengths so if this happens to you often, you might consider getting a shorter one.

I don't know how and why but I got mine off of ebay from a vendor for 1/2 price and free shipping. I believe it was $25.00 all in so it's not that expensive a change and I am sure you can resell the one you have now.
  • Had this flip foot on my previous TT and it worked great for four years, bought a new TT last August, put the flip foot on and seemed to be ok. Went camping that weekend and the thing would not flip until the last second hitting the ground and thus not allowing the foot to flip all the way down. Had to leave TT connected to TV. Got home and spend over an hour adjusting it. No good. Bought extra washers as the instructions said, still no good. Got mad enough I took it off and now am happy. Sold it to the neighbor who has had no problem with it flipping up or down. Must depend on the TT whether it works or not. I have no idea but I really don't need it. All is Good in camping land.

My experience.... the foot folded (retracted) when it was deployed. Trailer moved when Flip Foot flipped.... so I took it off and placed in recycle bin. I will never use one again.
  • Had one on our 2014 Cougar High Country. Never again!!!! Sometimes it wouldn't fold out all the way on the way down. Then it wouldn't fold up properly. just one more thing to give you trouble
Just bout a 2016 Windjammer 3029W and the standard 8 inch extension tube works great.

    Happy trails,
  • I have this one and have been happy with it. It doesn't work automatically but in my opinion that was a positive thing.
