flojet pump will not pump

2011 keystone sprinter, tried to winterize, flojet pump runs but no suction. I put a bypass in line at the pump last winter to suck the antifreeze into the pump and through the lines, this year will not pump. it has not been used for 6 weeks or more. I tried putting a funnel on the bypass hose to try and prime the pump and nothing. I am assuming yhe flojet pump died, is there anything I can do to it to repair? And what are my other options here to drain the lines, I have no access to air pressure to blow them out, nearest rv placed is over an hour away, it has pex tubing and fittings. Appreciate any help?

  • Just wanted to share what I found, I installed a camco bypass valve last year before winter to suck the antifreeze in at the pump, after trying everything else I took that piece of******off and hooked hose directly into pump from jug, sucked it right in, job done. Looked at junk camco bypass valve I believe it was sucking air at the knob. Lesson learned.
  • Can you feel the motor.......is it warm?
If you primed the suction line with anti-freeze and nothing......sounds like pump isn't even running
Check for blown 12V DC fuse....or if any power to motor.

Not familiar with the FloJet water pump but if like a Shurflo....diaphragm pump designed to run dry
  • Leave a faucet open and it will likely take a few seconds for it to start pumping, had the same thing happen in my tc last week, thought the pump was pooched untill I open up a tap, problem solved that easy.
  • Not that long, will try again in morning, 28 degree's here tonight I think I am safe, how long can I run that pump dry without damaging it further if it has crapped out?

Yes it is a camco bypass kit valve was open to antifreeze jug, I even pulled the clip and pulled out the fitting to the pump and stuck my finger in the hole and felt no suction

Mine took about 3 minutes to start pumping. How long have you waited?

  • A couple of questions just to get a clear idea of what is happening.
    1. Have you shut off the line to the water tank?
    2. Is the shut off to the antifreeze jug open?
    3. Have you checked to make sure neither of the shut offs and any joints in the piping are not leaking (ie. sucking air)?

You can drain most but not all water from your lines by opening the low point drains under the trailer. Suggest you invest in a small air compressor.
  • Do you have a faucet open, when trying to get the pump to flow?
