I'm not normally a fan of KOA, but the one in Kissimmee is exceptional and has activities daily + a wine tasting on Thursday evenings, think it was. Seems like the rate was right at $40 incl the taxes and such. If you're a baseball fan, you're at the right place. Wide World of Sports at Disney is Atlanta Braves and an awesome facility....you'll be in and out faster than you'd believe, they really have a system - FREE parking. White Sox :( are also in FL, just don't know exactly where. Detroit is in Lakeland, Yankees and Phillies are in the Tampa area - a bit of a drive from Orlando, but doable. Remember to allow for spring break traffic anywhere near water. Also, gotta plan ahead and check online regularly for open sales on tickets as they all are usually sell outs. Most open sales are the first or second week in January.
Enroute....if you find yourself heading through Birmingham, prepare for THE WORST bumpy road on I-65 on the south side. The good news, however, is that once you get through there, there is a CW in Calera that has very nice overnight facilities with full hookups, also no charge. Of course, they would be very happy if you did some shopping while you're there, but you can always find something. Last year they had an exceptional deal on propane fill-ups - think it was Wednesday - about 1/2 the going rate elsewhere. Call first to be sure. It's first come, first serve, but very, very nice and the price is right. If you're into wineries, Keel and Curley in Plant City is THE place. If you're into either RC or quilting, PM me and I'll give you the info....best fuel prices to be found are in Orlando and awesome fabric at Orlando and Lakeland stores - gotta look up the name because old people forget things like that. Have a great, safe trip!!
