I saw one of these double folding rear steps on a commercial (camper style) pickup but it was on the freeway and I couldn't get close enough to see a brand name. A google search yielded this picture from an auction house (the sticker in the pic is the auction lot number not the brand name)It was heavy duty commercial grade aluminum with two steps which would be great for my lifted 4x4 and the bottom step folds up for ground clearance and length issues. If anybody knows who makes this I would very happy to find out where I can get one. I've owned many of the other cheaper alternatives but this unit would be perfect for my usesThe step is upside down in the picture!

Could definately use one of them. Every one of us has taken a digger coming out the back of the camper this summer. Even with a 2 step little step stool, it's still about 18" to the bottom camper step.Thinking about a hitch cargo rack that would function as a mid way landing with the right hitch extension.

I had the lance step modified from single step to a 2 step , it still folds up the same as the unmodified step . it is a super inprovement over the standard step.If you would a pictures sent to your phone contact me at 805 407 6126

I had a welder friend modify my rear step form single to double that folds the same way the factory step foldes but it has a second step.If you want a picture i can send to your email .

The sticker is a lot number for the auction house/site Purple Wave.

Just curious if there are enough folks that want a high quality folding step and willing to pay the $300/$400 it would take to commission a production run of 10-12 units. I'm asking because I spent 25 years in the machine tool and fabrication business and still have contacts with hundreds of job shops in the Southeast. I'm sure I could find one that would build replicas. Reverse engineering that sucker is not that big a deal. Any shop with a CNC plate burner or waterjet could do the side plates and butterfly easily. Two bumps with a brake and ready to weld.

At first I too thought that was hand made. I have made a few like that myself. That however has a sticker with the manufacturer and model # The # is w 9744. I can almost make out the other information. If I had a magnifier I think I could get enough to do a search. Maybe the sticker is for auction but it sure looks more official. If you you want 5 I would think a good fab shop could build them for the offer. The trouble is liability. I would check west marine, e trailer, search folding step.

Looking at how it is built (properly) I would say a company had them made for them. Could be a company like USPS,Fedex, etc that needed it for one type of their units and had a bunch made.

I would expect to pay $400 to $600 for something like this and I may have to build it myself but somebody somewhere builds these and sells them to commercial carriers like the cable companies etc. I need at least 3 units and as many as 5 ASAP

Just looking at it, I would be surprised this was available as a retail product. It looks shop built for a specific purpose. Thats a lot of steel. Looks like 1/4" side plates, 3/16" support wings, 1/8 channle boxed for the grip strut treads, which is kinda odd, unless its decking that was cut up. Other than heavy heavy, $100 finders fee would be the inexpensive part.

Too bad no pic of it folded over, onto itself I assume. If you had a working drawing I might visit a local fab. shop.

I'll pay a $100 cash reward for anybody who can lead me to the manufacturer of the step in this picture! I'll also buy one from anybody who has one or two or three !!!

too small, slick and slippery for me and the rainy northwest. I might climb up on those but coming down would be iffy at best
