- az99ExplorerOur fearless leaders in DC will mandate this as standard safety equip. by 2018 and increase the price of vehicles by another $1,000.
- ChooChooMan74ExplorerBeen backing up trailers since I was a teen. From various forms of race car trailers up to 42' to various sizes and types of campers. Practice is all most of us need and it becomes second nature.

Kinda cool, yeah, but not for me. Kinda like the Dodge Ram and the gear shift dial instead of a regular gear shift. Sure, it doesn't make a difference, and once you're in gear, it's all the same, but I just don't really like that gear shift dial either.

I push the wheel the way I want the TT to go any way. With your hand on the bottom of the wheel. The direction you move your hand is the direction the trailer will turn. - KD4UPLExplorer IIBacking up isn't difficult using a steering wheel. How is a smaller knob located in a less accessible spot going to be easier? This is nothing but a gimmick. If you can't back a trailer with a steering wheel then you need to practice your driving, not buy some technological gizmo to do it for you.
- MARKW8ExplorerDumbing it down another notch. Backing up isn't rocket science.

Mike - OH48LtExplorerTwo weeks ago I drove a 2016 F150 Lariat with the Technology Package that had that feature. Neat to have, but I really don't see the point. Its extremely helpful to have the camera there to help the driver put the ball right under the hitch (I use the camera to do it all the time with my "old" 2011 Lariat), but why would anyone need to have to control the steering with that little round knob? If you can't turn the steering wheel, you shouldn't be behind the wheel.
It requires some type of device be attached to the trailer hitch to make this work, not sure exactly what that was. Maybe just a couple of stickers with special lines or something.
No, I won't be buying that 2016 Lariat. $58,800 is a little ridiculous for a 1/2 ton pickup. And there are two trim lines above that Lariat. - FKT4387ExplorerPretty cool!
- 2oldmanExplorer III'd rather use the knob then sit back and watch.
- christopherglenExplorerI would rather know how to back a trailer, then depend on a little knob to do it. What happens is you ever need to back up someone else's truck? We were taught G.O.A.L., The back up camera has an even worse view behind the trailer then the side mirrors.
