For those with outdoor kitchens....

My problem with my outdoor kitchen dorm fridge is that I open and close it too much (maybe I drink my beers too fast). Also in order to adjust the temp or turn it off I need to unscrew it and pull it out because the control is on the back.

Had the same problem with my fridge not keeping the mountains blue on my cans (if you know what I mean)in the warmer temps 85 and up. I contacted selling dealer and fridge was replaced under warranty by keystone. So far so good with the new fridge. It is a different model that they are using now, most likely due to similar complaints. Also, I only close the outdoor kithcen at night or in the rain.

I thought maybe you had the small kitchen but yours is the same size as mine. Is your fridge up on high? My fridge will be on starting in May until Oct. during the week when in the yard there are just drinks in there, during a camping trip food ends up in there and never an issue of it getting warm. When camping the kitchen is open the entire time, I do not close it if we go out so the kitchen only warms up when we are home and all is closed up. I added Velcro to the fridge to be sure the door stays closed when traveling. Not sure how venting would help and certainly did not like the idea of venting into the trailer. If there was a way to blow some a/c into there, that might help.

Outdoor kitchen with no fridge. Don't camp with power most of the time so 120 vac fridge is waste of time & money!

We have had our TT with an outdoor kitchen through 2 hot seasons here in Florida. I have actually turned it up (warmer) as my top shelve beers have been frozen at times. I have not noticed any excess heat in the kitchen either, but, it is so damn hot at times I may not have noticed.

I too have noticed that the kitchen compartment will warm up some on my rig, but I've never had it get to the point that the fridge had any issues keeping my drinks nice and cold. I do not think the compartment is vented in any way...

Now you have me worried! We had a fairly mild summer last year while I was camping... If you have your AC running I wonder if a couple of strategically placed vents into the bunkhouse might fix the problem.

But, alternately, I'm wondering if your fridge might be having another issue that is causing it to run excessively and generating extra heat? If this was a issue for a lot of owners (things in the fridge would not stay cold) I'd expect to have seen this pop up before and I cant remember that.

Seems like I might be alone in this one. Though I must admit I am a little suprised. As noted by another poster, these dorm fridges in those tight spaces generate heat. I may have to try to come up with some sort of ventilation on my own. My fear is that any solution I come up with, might be a little mickey mouse.

Why not rig up a spacer bar or wedge that would keep the hatch door open a few inches? With an eye bolt or two, you could secure it with a cable and padlock.

I have an outdoor grill that slides out but not a full kitchen... I've seen them at the shows and wondered about all those 120V dorm fridges they were using. I typically don't camp with hookups so wouldn't be relevant to my interests.

There are lots of great fridge modifications to be found on this forum. It sounds like a vent or
exhaust fan might do you some good. My favorite fridge enhancement is simply freezing 3-4 water bottles in the cool of the night and moving them to the fridge in the heat of the day. Really helps on
those super hot days.
