The Ecoboost has plenty of power. Few people complain about how well it pulls. I test drove a couple and really want one. If Ford had the Ecoboost in a 2012 Expy, I'd probably have it instead of a Suburban. However, towing 7000+ pound TT can get some half tons into trouble with payload. Half tons have 750-3000 pounds of payload. As you shop, take a look at the as equipped payload on the tire and loading sticker as you shop. Make sure there is enough for 1000-ish pounds of tongue weight plus the people and cargo in the truck.
