I thought the EB in my 2017 F350 was better than adequate although I recognized there was room for improvement. I haven't been towing in the mountains yet with my 2021 so I can't say for sure, but my sense is that the '21 is, if anything, worse than the previous generation. For those who have towed with both the 6r140 and now the 10r140 what are your thoughts?

Diesel engine exhaust brakes (valve in exhaust stream or variable geometry turbos) and compression release brakes (“jake brakes”) offer more braking hp as rpm increases. Gearing down out of overdrive gears and lower rear ratios increase the effectiveness of engine braking. Hydraulic and electro magnetic retarder do not rely on engine rpm but lower rear axle ratios make them more effective as well.I’m going to grab some popcorn.

We crossed Wolf Creek Pass last Oct on our way to GCNP. Oh how I've heard over the years how scary it could be. Piece of cake with our 2017 F350 DRW 4:10 rear end pulling 20,000 DRV.Cruise on, Tow Haul on, Engine brake on. Wife complaining how slow we were going. We have done 10% up amd down with no problems ??.

There are three engine choices in the F-350; 6.2 gas, 7.3 gas or 6.7 diesel. Neither of the gas engines are turbocharged or "Ecoboost".

Huh??? I'm pretty sure the OP's 6.7L Powerstroke runs on diesel fuel. He mentioned "building boost". There are no F350 boosted gas engines.

OR, the fact that he starts more "discussions" about his diesel pickup on here than pretty much anyone else! LOL

I thought the EB on our '15 did a very good job w/ the hills in western NC when we had it. The '17 Imo is equally as good.
