ford 6.2 engine

Subscribed. Interested in all talk on the 6.2L. I've been trying to find a crew cab locally to test drive, and there is not one in any gear to be found. I'm sure after driving diesels so long and having a 6.7L now, the 6.2L will be a noisy high-revving crawler compared, but I agree that these trucks are getting too expensive, let alone add the cost to burn smoke juice.

I have a 34 foot gooseneck horse trailer with living quarters that weighs 14,000 lbs that I pull with a 2013 F350 Dually CC with 6.2 engine and 4.30 rear end. Truck pulls this trailer with no problems - traded a 2006 6.0PSD F250 for the 6.2 gas engine with no regrets - I pulled the above trailer with both trucks and both pulled it equally well- you just have to learn to keep the gas engine in the higher rpm ranges. I had to order my F350 DRW as I wanted a 2wd with 4.30 gears with a gas engine - odds of finding that combination on a dealer lot is slim to none - I calculated the breakeven at about 150k miles when purchasing new gas vs diesel truck with gas avg mpg at 10 and diesel avg mpg at 15 and diesel at $.50 higher than gas, but it's higher than that now. The extra $8300 for the diesel engine plus the added maintenance costs makes it hard to justify one these days unless you tow almost daily. Good luck finding what you want.

just returned from a trip out west from indiana withouth our 5th in tow and these were the results with our 2012 6.2l 3.73 crew cab short bed . I'm hoping this pic thing works, i have never tried it before.

Love mine. We tow about 7500 lbs and it does great. As was mentioned, the 6.2 makes it's best power when revving high (I'm talking hills, acceleration etc). Towing on flat roads I lock out 6th and it hums right along at 60/65 MPH around 2200 RPM's. So if you're not towing over 10,000 lbs it will work fine. My towing mileage is 8-10 depending on the terrain, wind etc. mileage empty isn't great, but I don't daily drive it, so it doesn't bother me.

2012 F250 6.2L around town 13-14 HW 15-17 depending on speed, towing FW 9000lbs 9-10 on FW at 60-70mph.

I have a 2011 F250 6.2l crew cab, 4x4, camper prep and it tows well. Similar mpg numbers as kalliemae reports. The only complaint I have heard about the 6.2l is that the rpms run high under load, and that it will shift back and forth from 5th to 6th gear. Both true, I usually lock out 6th gear on anything but dead flat terrain. The crew cab is a bit of a pain doubling as my plow truck, but the thing is practically unstoppable (in a good way).

Have been towing a Jayco 26.5RLS with a 2012 F 250 lariat 4x4 over 10,000 miles with 3.73 gears. It has plenty of power. mileage empty averages around 13, towing mileage around 9. Love the truck would get another 6.2 in a heart beat

I just bought one couple weeks ago!
So far I love the truck. Its a 2012 CC 4x4 lariat with the 6.2 and 3.73 rear end. I would have liked to have gotten the 4.30 rear end, but couldn't find one around without ordering. It's also a Ford certified vehicle and came with great warranty and price to boot. And even better is the truck is in pristine condition inside and out with only 27,000 miles. I came from an 05 F-250 with the 6.0 PSD and haven't missed it yet except sentimental reasons. I just finished installing the hardware today for my hitch so I haven't towed with it yet, but I will very soon and I will update when I do. My rig only comes in at around 9500# loaded so I think the 3.73 will serve me well as 90% of the time it will be my DD. I'm averaging around 13.5mpg so far (mixed diving) and I hope as the weather warms that will improve some. But I didn't buy it for fuel mileage, but rather to serve a purpose. I tink it's gonna be great as 90% of the reviews I read on this truck and engine combo were very positive. And I researched, looked, and test drove very extensively. But as with anything there's always a few negative Nancy's. So far I'd highly recommend it!
