Smaller rods doesn't mean less strong anymore. Material and profile advancements both allow for stronger rods, while making them smaller. The smaller rods have a few advantages including less reciprocating mass and more flexibility in piston skirt design. Tognum (parent of Detroit/Mercedes Diesel) started doing it first in about 2008.Ceramic bearings are a no brainer. Heat doesn't hurt them.

I follow powerstroke help, even though my last ford I owned was a 7.3 IDI. I find his videos very informative.

This guy has always been the best source of good info. Not that I need to get rid of my 7.3 it at least looks like Ford has finally built a diesel engine with the longevity of a 7.3 except for the turbo.

...and the HP Fuel Pump...and the failing valve train...but the biggie is warranty denials...Regards

Never the less - the turbo bearings are failing. The new redesigned turbos are leaving the ceramic bearings behind.

Just another Ford failure - yet the faithful just keep buying them???

I had athe same issue with GM not paying for warranty work. You take the truck to the shop, they do the work and then say,"OH Chevy reimburses you" Thats ta load.

The radiator thing completely baffles me. Why can they not get such a simple part to be reliable?

Why does a replacement cost so much?
Why hasn't the aftermarket stepped up with a reliable replacement?

This issue alone would make a 6.7 a non starter for me.
I personally know people who have replaced their radiators 3 times in 60,000 miles. Heck they change radiators more often then I change air or fuel filters.

I thought the video showed the bent connecting rod and talked about the powdered turbo bearings.

I guess you Ford boys have a lower definition of "right" than the rest of us.

They did get it right, it's a heck of an engine and will only be refined. Are there some teething issues? Sure, but not hugely widespread. HPFP? Same failure rate as GM. I am pulling for the 6.7, it's a pleasure to tow with.
