Ford 6.7L Powerstroke V8 Diesel

Wanted to get some feedback from 6.7L owners. Took a look at a DRW 8 foot bed Extended cab. Looked and sounded good.

  • I have a '12 6.7 with 93k miles. So far it's a great truck with not a single repair to date. Awesome power, fuel economy and over all truck package with no interior rattles, leather is holding up great and paint still looks new. Replace tires every 45k miles, windshield wipers, and third break light bulb to date.
  • I have a "15" 6.7 and love it... It is a strong motor, with lots of power. As stated before, it also has an improved exhaust brake feature , in 15, they added an on/off button for the exhaust brake.
  • My cousin has a 2011 F250 with the first edition of the 6.7 and he LOVES it. He abuses that truck. He works on a farm and the truck gets beaten daily. He goes hunting and fishing and takes the truck and it gets ridden hard and put away wet more often than not. He has never had a problem with it and loves it. He has since lifted it and put some bigger tires on it, so his mileage isn't as good, but he is very happy with it.

The newer 6.7's have some tweaks to the turbo and I know the exhaust braking is much improved. The only concern that I personally have is that you still have to take the cab off the truck to work on the engine. I understand that major engine repairs are hopefully unlikely, but having to pay a full days labor just to remove the cab makes a potentially expensive repair even more expensive.

The new Bosch fuel pump seems to have much better reliability than the original version used by both Ford and GM.

My cousin is having some transmission problems, but he believes that they are mostly his fault for the way he uses the truck.

Seems like a good truck, lots of HP and torque. Faster than my Cummins. Respectable fuel mileage and good tow ratings. Don't think you can go wrong with the Ford.
  • Well you've come to the right place. There's about 1000 threads of feedback. Half have ford in the title and the other half are asking opinions about another brand but interjected with plenty of Ford "feedback."
    Happy reading!
