We just sold a 1992 7.3 non-turbo last year. I believe it was the 185hp version. The engine was still humming along just fine. The body was falling apart but still got $1800 for her.
Other than a turbo for high altitude work, it was fine for our 28' 5th wheel. Never felt we needed more power and averaged just shy of 13mpg towing. Never felt at risk we wouldn't make it up a grade just not that fast up the grade.
If we were going to spend a lot of time in the mountains a 250hp turbo version would be about perfect. The monsters we have today are more about ego than need.
