Ford 7.3 v8

Probably the best thing is go drive a couple different models with the 7.3 gas engine.
It won't be loaded like when you're traveling/camping but, it will give you an idea of what to expect.

Ford spent a lot of money designing and developing the new 7.3 to replace the reliable V-10.
I'm guessing it will be equal to or better than the V-10.

The new Godzilla produces a lot of low end torque for a gas engine. It's a great engine. But mileage isn't the best. I read reviews that on the F250/350 it's about 14-15 mpg highway not towing. I would guess you'll be in the 7-8 range in a MH. That was just one of the reasons I opted for the 6.7 diesel. I am getting 20-21 not towing and about 14 towing the FW in my signature. Still new to get a lot of comprehensive data but MPG doesn't appear to be the strong suit of the 7.3. It is supposed to be more quiet, and the updated chassis is supposed to ride much nicer.

The main reason I ordered the 7.3 over the 6.4 was I simply wouldn't be able to tolerate cylinder deactivation on a tow vehicle even if it couldn't be felt.

The introductory 7.3's had some minor glitches but Ford was on board.

Can't say I've ever considered fuel mileage when it comes to big displacement.

The 7.3 is a purpose built engine, what I was looking for.

In cutaway and stripped chassis models it's either 350/468 or 300/425, so slightly better or the same as the outgoing V10.
So driving the full power pickup truck version with a 10 speed and lightweight chassis will not be any sort of comparison, other than both should smell like a new car when you get in.

Plus, no 10 speed, still stuck with the 6 speed in cutaways and stripped chassis models. Unless you're getting a gas F series Super C, then you get the full 430hp engine and 10 speed.
In short, whatever the newer V10s do, the new 7.3 will be almost identical.

The Ford 7.3L did the best by far in a recent test against the GM 6.6L gas and the Ram 6.4L Hemi gas engine towing loads up hill. Check out TFL Truck on YouTube.

If I was going to buy a new gasoline engine truck it would be number one on my list.

I am not sure copying the GM LS engine is really "designing and developing" but I am sure they spent a lot of money in printer ink handing out copies of the LS engine design to their engineers.

I'm pretty sure Ford didn't copy he LS engine. If they did they would've been sued by now.
That's like saying you can't use a V-8 because we have a V-8!
