One of the most amazing things I recall about the 7.3 TDI, was how good it would start in cold weather compared to the earlier versions.
I recall a logging contractor coming in on a Saturday morning in January when it was about -30F.
He had heard about the new motor and wanted to check it out but figured we would have to plug it in for the day at least before it would go.
I kidded him that if I walked across the road and it fired up right now he had to buy it.
It did and he did... :W.
The trick was to cycle the glow plugs twice and they would usually start, BUT NOISY!!!!!
