Hard to believe that the first 7.3 was only 185 horsepower. Was also IDI (In Direct Injection) and non turbo for those who were not paying attention to diesel powered trucks back in the late 80's.:...

Our first Motorhome was a 1986 27' class C on a Ford F-350 chassis with a 6.9. Talk about gutless on hills! It had a 3 speed automatic to boot. I added a aftermarket turbo kit and a Gear Vendors overdrive/underdrive as a underdrive along with 3" exhaust and that made a good driving setup. I did all the upgrade work myself- when I was younger (-:
