Sounds like OP found a couple though based on his post. Although if they're decent trucks, they've sold already while he was asking the question.
To the op. Repair costs on any 15 year old vehicle will be a **** shoot. And even if it's the holy grail, cherry, low mile, looks like the day it rolled off the line truck, you'll still have the typical 15 year old repairs plus the wild card of an old truck.

Good comparison, used to run almost exclusively gmt 800 pickups. 90s models. Bulletproof 350s, tough, simple, reliable dime a dozen trucks.
Had a 1990 that I put like 160kmi on with maybe $1000 in parts or less over several years. Plus a few others.
Needed a cheap truck a while ago and found a cherry 25kmi, grampa owned 1990 Z71 5 speed. Garaged, well kept, like new almost. It ended up being a great truck, but in the year I had it and maybe 30kmi of use, it spit out dead parts every month. Alternator, starter, rear brake cylinders, a half shaft, etc Bunch of nickel and dime stuff that should be good with a truck under 50kmi.
It happens. Got 2 10 year old vehicles right now....by choice and while they both are reliable and look great, ALL the little stuff is popping up.
Problem with the diesel market right now is cheap fuel, good economy, lack of used inventory due to the last recession and insane prices on the new ones. Makes the market overinflated just to get an oil burner.
If you really just need more chassis and can pull with a gasser. Take what you'll spend on a great old diesel. $20k or close to it and find you a low mile HD gasser half the age for the same price.
