The main reason I ordered the 7.3 over the 6.4 was I simply wouldn't be able to tolerate cylinder deactivation on a tow vehicle even if it couldn't be felt.
The introductory 7.3's had some minor glitches but Ford was on board.
Can't say I've ever considered fuel mileage when it comes to big displacement.
The 7.3 is a purpose built engine, what I was looking for.
