This is why I never understand how people who have high trim level gasers say that the diesel option is too expensive. If their reason was that they don't want a diesel option then that is fine, but don't say that it is too expensive of an option when you are willing to pay even more for another option. It doesn't make any sense. I would choose the diesel option with the base trim level over a gaser with a high trim level, but my priorities are different.
I've said the same thing for years. I'm a LT/SLE person that is willing to spend for the diesel. I never understood the argument either but then again I think the Denali is expensive :B

Has anyone published the weight of this engine? I wonder what kind of payload can this engine return on a F350SRW in either Platinum or Limited trims...
In the TFL Video it was mentioned to be slightly LIGHTER then the 6.2. - ShinerBockExplorer

Now that Chevy and Ford have stepped up their gasser game, I wonder how Ram will respond.
If I am not mistaken, Ram has been working on a 7.0L push rod engine for a few years now code named "Banshee". Not sure if it will go into the HD trucks though. - AceiExplorerHas anyone published the weight of this engine? Or for those who don't want the big up front cost of a diesel.
That reminds me of a co-worker of mine. He bought a Ram 6.4L Laramie. Said he didn't want to pay the $8k for the diesel option yet paid $11k for the Laramie option which left me scratching my head.
If your going to take more time going up and down the hills, you best be comfortable. Personally, I don't spend the money for a High Country or Denali, but I am all in at the LTZ/SLT trim level. The gas trucks I bought, cause I didn't want to spend the money for a diesel for the purpose the truck filled, were still upper trim levels. If I have to put in more hours or generate more income to make the dollars work to get into something more comfortable, for me it is important enough to do that.
In my co-workers case, it wasn't that the $8k upfront cost was too expensive for him since he gladly spent $11k on another option for the truck. It is just that the bells and whistles option was more important to him than towing performance and fuel efficient option. Both are options on the truck just as anything else, it just matters which is more important to you.

Yeah but that truck is very rare on a dealer lot. Most upper level trim trucks are equipped with diesel engines.- Bionic_ManExplorer

Different strokes for different folks. If I didn’t have a fifth wheel, I wouldn’t own a diesel truck. But I will always buy the top trim level available.
Most people have a budget and have to draw the line somewhere when optioning out a vehicle.
