Got to ask what is Fords Asking price for that filter, hopefully less than $100.
  • My brother's a diesel tech and he told me never to get an aftermarket filter or intake unless you'd like to find out what a dusted turbo looks like and what it costs.
  • Colliehauler: Sorry I could not help more. The Ford dealer is the only place I have found them and they do not seem to vary in price much.
  • TecMike- that is the replacement filter I'm looking for. Someone had a source for them at a lower cost.
  • AIS is a term used for Air Intake Systems, usually when discussing diesel truck engines, as they take must take in and filter much more air into their engines than a gasoline powered truck.

To the best of my memory, Ford 7.3L Powerstroke diesel trucks were used so much by the military and oil companies in very harsh and sandy conditions overseas that Ford had a company named Donaldson develop a system designated the "Ford Severe Duty Air Intake System", that would filter air in their engines many times better and hold more dirt much longer than Ford's normal pleated original equipment air intake filters.

I believe Donaldson also made air filters for our military tanks for use in the desert.

The Ford Severe Air Intake System is available through Ford dealerships. I have one for my truck and they are great. Much more closed hood time.

I bought my last replacement filter through my Ford dealership. Seems like the replacement filter was about $70, but my memory is not what it used to be.
  • I could not even find a third party air filter when I looked. OEM seems to be it for HD trucks.
