Ford day time running lights

On my 2016 F350 I took it to the dealer and they went into the BCM and activated them. I was told all Super Duty vehicles have them but just the fleet orders come with them activated. It took about 15 minutes to hook up their laptop and turn them on.

My dealer told me that on my 2013 F150 there is a jumper wire available at a very reasonalbe cost to enable the DRL's for vehicles sold in Canada. I want to get it but it is any easy thing to put off. I have the DRL's on in my 2017. I think that they are a great thing to have and have been putting them on my vehicles for years. After all, they are required on motorcycles in this country and on all vehicles in many countries. While you can just turn on your headlights that shortens their life much more than running them a little dimmer. I do object to motorcycles running around with high beams on.

I don't see that there would be anything wrong with just turning on your "regular" headlights. Sure it turns on marker and rear lights. Just makes you more visible.

HI I drive a 2004 f250 and the automatic feature on the headlight switch (turn switch left) sets the headlights/running lights to come on automatically. It is not just headlights there's a sensor bulb on the center of the dash low edge of the windshield, it senses the amount of light outside using those feature usually won't automatically turn lights on during rain.

To the OP my old Silverado had DRL'S and I had to replace the DRL module under the dash. Are you sure that your vehicle came with DRL? If so I would contact the Ford dealer as I believe that DRL'S are automatic and I could only shut mine off using my parking bracket (old Silverado)

Yep, I checked my headlights yesterday and the "automatic" setting is not daytime running lights.

I'm not certain but I'd bet they can be enabled w dealer software. My 2013 F250 XL stripper had them on for some reason.

My 2005 F250 had DRL as an option and was a mandatory install where required. Older systems were typically enabled with a fuse, resistor or relay. Today, most systems require changing a soft-switch setting by the owner or dealer to enable DRL.
