I own a 18 F150 Lariat with the fake V8ish sound. I actually enjoy the sound. You really cannot hear it until you lay into the throttle a bit. Though when in sport mode, it get significantly louder.
I am 44. At least 3/4 of my vehicles up to last year have had louder than stock exhaust. Ranging from stupid when I was younger to nice tough sounding as I got older.
The F150 is super quiet outside, which is good because no one wants to hear a loud ecoboost. Ive watched youtube's of "piped" ecoboosts and they sound terrible. But if I want, I can make it make sound inside to please my ears only.
Yeah it doesnt sound like a american made V8, but whatever sound they are replicating sounds pretty good to me.
The fake sound is only in the Lariat's and up. And the dealer can turn it off, or using forscan can turn it off as well.
I was planning on buying a V8 when I was truck shopping. My last few trucks were diesels. But I like the 3.5 eco much better than the 5.0L. Not knocking the 5.0, I just like they way the eco drives better.
