The fact that the 5.0 is the smallest V8 available in a pickup really doesn't matter, at least not to me. It outperforms its larger predecessors (the 5.4 Triton and the old, gutless 5.8 or 351 Windsor) by a wide margin. But face it, normally aspirated V8s are dinosaurs. Ford may have the only V6 in the 150/1500 series lineup, but it performs wheel to wheel with any of its competition. Chevy's standard engine is a turbo four cylinder. Ram doesn't have a turbo gas engine in a pickup-yet- but I think they will soon.
