We have a 2008 6.4 During our first long tow in 2008 (Towing our 8000lb boat from GA to PA), it performed flawlessly. A few days after our arrival, after the long trip, during out house-hunting trip, we had to tow the boat over the mountain to put it in storage (35 miles). During that tow, the truck acted sporadically. Boost was all over the place, truck ran rough, etc. After 30 min it settled down. The first few trips the dealers said they could find nothing wrong. Eventually it did it again with a Check engine light and the dealer identified a sensor wiring harness had been run across the exhaust and burned through the insulation. The sensor harness had shorted. I'm not sure which sensor, but it affected boost pressure.
I am wondering if one of the turbos failed due to oil starvation. I believe there is a sight gauge. What kind of oil change interval are you on?
I hope it is something simple, inexpensive and hopefully covered under warranty. Many of the major repairs on these new Fords require the body to come off the frame, and the repair bill can start to climb quickly.
Good luck!
