Ford did not start using the 6.0 until MID 2003 model year. Prior to that, they had the 7.3 which was the BEST diesel Ford ever had.... RUN don't walk, from any 6.0, unless you have a spare $5000 to stash away as a repair fund just for the engine. SOME of the 6.0 are having NO problems, but the majority have had or will have an engine failure during their lifetime. Buying used is even riskier, as you have NO idea how the previous owner treated the vehicle or if they had a chip in it, which is NOT a good idea with a 6.0 engine.....
