I think the beta testing cycle is typically the first three years on the market so I expect Ford will have a solid solution and working it into the production line over the next few years. They may get the this out to current owners as needed at not parts or labor charge. I do think gas engines can be build to work hard without the boost blowing.
Alpha testing just does not give enough broad/fast data to get it right before going to market for many reasons.
Automatic transmissions went into production after WWII but it was a good 20 years before they went main stream in cars and 40 years in work trucks so just give Ecoboost some time. If they can prove it does not work as designed they may beat the patent lawsuit against the designer of the system. :)
