According to the news Ford is having problems with the ecoboost loosing power on hard acceleration? Have not yet followed up on the exact problem, but is this the tip of the iceberg or iwhat?http://fxn.ws/11r9mI5

I think it is generally understood the ECO's work best for PU's used as cars.

This is a huge problem. Many at the forums have had this problem. It because the intercooler has to be super efficient so that this 'turbo' engine can be used for towing. Then water condenses in it and sits there. When there's enough air flow, from WOT (wide Open Throttle), the water gets pushed into the cyclinder where it causes a misfire. This also causes damage to the catalytic converter. There is also some issues where the spark plugs are gapped incorrectly.While this is a large problem on the F150, with the 3.5L turbo, it seems a relatively none existant issue to small issue with the cars and crossovers since they weren't designed to tow heavy and shouldn't need the extra cooling.This is exactly why engines with turbos are not intended to tow. The "GASOLINE" engines are already running super hot when used with turbos, adding extra work to make them even hotter requires a lot of cooling.This is exactly why I DID NOT BUY a 3.5L Ecoboost turbo. I would had loved to buy a 6.2L but for 2012 it was only available in trims starting at the Lariat and above. For 2013, you could get it in an XLT but you have to choose almost all options and the cost isn't much different than a 6.2L F250 with the same options. Besides, I commute a lot and the 6.2L poor fuel economy would put me in the poor house.I really think that Ford can correct the intercooler issue but I'm guessing it's an expensive alternative to what they've tried already. BUT they have to as it could be turned into a manditory recall. Ford doesn't want it to get to that point.

My thoughts exactly. One person in 4,000 reporting a problem that has not resulted in any accidents or injuries. That is a lot better than the rollover issues with 15 passenger vans and I have been driving one of those for 20 years with no problems. I would not hesitate to buy another except that my family is shrinking now.

Several folks on this forum alone have reported that this problem has happened to them at least once. Maybe others just won't admit it. It is a rare occurrence though so I wouldn't define it as serious. Probably annoying would be a better word.

I have to totally agree with this statement, as the Cummins engine is ALL that is keeping the Ram alive. It is a shame, but the truth.

I have the same love for my Ford as you do your Dodge. Just like you i would not own a dodge especially after owning a Ford. It doesn't make sense taking a step backwards, i believe in constantly moving foward.:p But they are still in business without me. The sad truth is if it wasn't for that Cummins under the hood (that obviously wasn't built by Dodge) I doubt there would even be Dodge trucks for sale anymore! :B

P.S.- My Eco has been running great for 2 years now with 21,000 miles and 4500 of those miles were towing our trailer.. ;)

Add that to the number of people that don't report their problems to the NHTSA. They don't start an investigation unless they believe there is an issue. Surf the Blue Oval forums then come back and tell us its only 95 people :R

It must be a serious problem from the article I read on Monday. The Federal Gov is investigating. Of the estimated 400,000 F-150 Ecoboost produced from 11'-13' the NHTSA has received some 95 reports of engines losing power during hard acceleration in rainy or humid weather. No reports of crashes or injuries thank goodness.

different ways of pulling the moisture off using engine vaccum go to the web site i posted most of those guys have got their game together for the f 150. Anytime I have a problem this is where i go for information. Sorry guys we are talking rv's and tv those guys are talking strictly f 150 any year any engine any rear axle and all the mods you can imagine
