Definitely don't consider anything other than a true accelerometer-based proportional controller.
My go-to is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, however the Explorer (we have a 2016 Sport) doesn't seem to have a good spot to mount one. It *might* fit in the cubby below the HVAC, with some mods, but that doesn't seem like the best spot to reach for the over-ride in an emergency.

Hopkins I-sight is another remote-module interface, but it's chunkier and the LCD display would be more appropriate 20 years ago.
Yep that's part of what I've been thinking about.. somewhere discreet but also allowing me to use it quickly when needed. Thanks for the recommendation!
