We have a Forest River triple slide Flagstaff Super Light that seems to be anything but super light with a just over 7400 lb dry wt and about 33 + feet long. Bought a 2013 Ecoboost with the tow package and 18" P rated tires. Thinking about adding overload springs and E tires to insure towing capability. Just my DW and me along with two cats. Cats might put me over the top weight wise. Opinions as to being OK. Might have to downsize to a smaller TT? LOL

That TT is on the big side. As asked above, is your truck equipped with the HD tow and or payload package? You will have a sticker on the drivers door with the payload #.

If it had the HD package, would it have P rated tires? Should be LT tires, I would think. While the F150 Eco would have no problem with that combo as far as power, frame, and brakes, it would be a little light in the tires, suspension, and maybe rear axle weight rating. If its the 5.5' bed, forget it. That short wheelbase with that trailer would be handful in good crosswinds. If its the 6.5' bed, put some Timbrens on it and check into LT tires. Those P rated tires have way too much sidewall flex. The only problem there might be the TPMS units might need replaced also due to the higher tire pressures you will be using. A local tire shop told me that I couldn't go from P tires to LT tires due to the TPMS parameters programmed into the computer, even if I changed the sending units on each wheel. Not sure if I believe that or not.

There is a current thread about this (Is the F150 Enough). I posted there. In brief, we had a 2013 F150 EcoBoost short bed with all the goodies. It had a 1,250 max payload. Our TT is an ultralight 27ft...weighs 6,000 dry, about 7,000 wet. Tongue weight is about 1,000 lbs. Do the math.

Do you have the capacities from your door sticker? Do you have actual tongue weight and total weight from the trailer?

I expect you may be over the receiver rating, rear axle rating and GCVWR. For myself I would not care to tow this combination.

The question is really going to be how do YOU feel about towing at a vehicles MAX ratings, (if not over)????

Sure, the specs say "X" amount of tow capacity... But, as APT stated, there is a lot of difference in towing an #8500 boat or #8500 car hauler to a #8500 TT...

All have the same GVW, but each will tow very differently from the other..

Can the F150 get that load down the road? Sure it can.. Even a Yugo would move the rig... It'll ultimately be up to YOU to decide what is comfortable for YOU or not...

I wouldn't tow a 8.5 to 9K# TT with 2 cats. (Or a 1/2ton truck).

Offhand it doesn't sound like the truck even has the Max Tow package, just the Standard one.

Bigger truck, less TT. 8500 pound loaded RV is more than most half ton owners are happy with. 8500 pounds boat? 8500 pound open car hauler? Sure. Not TT.

Helper springs or more capable ties do not increase your tow rating on ANY vehicle. Should have ordered the more capable hd payload option if you needed more capability.
