I have one with 3:73s. Pull a 10.5K 5th wheel. I love it. It pulls just as well as my previous '08 V10. As others have said, it will be night and day difference from your 5.4.
Comments regarding the 3:73s vs 4:30s and hill climbing are unfounded and speculative. Sure 4:30s would be better for hill climbing but I cruise up 6% grades at 55-60 mph at 3600 rpms with plenty left if I wanted it. I LOVE the 6 speed transmission.
If I were to upgrade to 12k+ I would go with the 4:30s but the 3:73s are no slouch.
From a reliability perspective, the engine is pretty bullet proof. As well as the transmission.
