Does anyone know the engine weight? Would it be half the weight of a 7.3? So the same power with another 500 lb in cargo carrying weight?
I was curious of the engine weight as well and found the Range Rover curb weight of the 3.0 Lion and the 3.0 turbo gas engines are within a few pounds of one another.

Also found this: "The engine family utilises twin overhead camshafts and multi-valves, single or twin turbochargers with an air-to-air intercooler, and innovative compacted graphite iron (CGI) block construction that leads to a low weight of 202 kg dry. Fuel supply is high-pressure common rail direct injection."
202 kg is 445 lbs so this is coming in around half the weight of the 7.3 that is around 920 lbs dry.

While the overall lighter (Aluminum) trucks improve mpg and provide more nimble handling when empty I like having at least as much weight on the truck tires as I do on the trailer tires when towing a bumper pull. For the diesel HD flavor '5/8 ton' I was kind of hoping the diesel would come in heavier to put a little more weight on the front axle. But for that matter you can always go with an F250 or F350 as needed.
Should be a good truck. As for me I am happy with my 2012 and, Lord willing, will run it for a long time.
Good luck all,
Stu
