Actually, with a diesel I look at torque. My 2001 7.3 was is rated at 505 ft/lb with auto transmission. I handles my 10k fiver quite well.
I love my 7.3 and the only way Im going to get rid of it is for someone to pry it from my cold dead hands:) My 5er weighs just under 12K loaded 11200 on the sticker in the door. I even weighed it once and it was loaded with 20 gal of extra water, generator, very large cooler with 4 30 packs and 50 Lbs of ice 66 gal of fuel and fire wood stuffed in every place I could find. Total weight 18200 giving me 800 lbs to spare. Without all the extra BS went up Ike at 55 in 3rd and that hill someone talked about out of Baker CA that is 17 miles long, well that's a 70 mph hill screw CA and their 55 thing. Oh did I say it has a Banks Stinger Kit giving me a little bit more than stock
