Am expecting the Lambo like swing up door kits to make it big this year. A kid
down the street has that setup on his Escalade and draws a crowd whenever he gets in/out...
20's are now OEM
Like on one thread someone was stating that a passenger side view mirror was
over a thousand bucks. Gads...it is a mirror !?!
All the more potential failure points, IMHO
Agree in so many ways. 20" rims, = reduced towing capacity, or they do according to the manual.
And yes there a re lots of power stealing electronics that tend to quit working. While the new engines will live much longer than ever before. So many other things in the truck won't. Like the electric windows, that do not like the harsher ride of a truck at work,($250.00 each several years ago) and then there is the electronic dash. Nothing mechanical there. Want to know how much it cost to replace an instrument cluster. $700. several years ago, and you know it is way more now. Then the electric seats, and heated seats, electric rear window, power pedals, memory seats, electric mirrors.
Every one of those options do at least 3 things. First they ALL take towing, and payload capacity from the truck. Second, they add thousands to the price of truck. And third. They add thousands to the upkeep of the truck.
Honestly. sometimes I am afraid to start my truck, for fear of what won't come on. So far everything, except for a few door lights do, but after 11 years. the engine is great, but other things are beginning to show their age. My next truck will not be a Lariat. But an XLT, with as few electronic gismos as possible.
