Again, I am not comparing dollar for dollar. If you go that route, a base truck with the diesel option is the best value for a tow vehicle, but I don't want to drive one. What I am saying is I feel there is a market for more upscale vehicles in a smaller package. Put a trim similar to (or better than) the High Country, Platinum, Longhorn, in a mid-size sedan or SUV.
Look at how many RDX/Macan/Cayenne,Q5, Q7, CLS, 3series are out there. There is a market, and it has high margins.
The problem with that is nobody would buy them. Why buy a Chevy if it costs the same as an Audi? The Audi offers a lot better driving dynamics, more cache and it has its own exclusive dealership network where you get extra perks. Better resale too cause people value the luxury brands more.
With trucks you don't have that issue because there aren't any luxury/sport oriented options
other than the Big 3 themselves (plus Nissan and Toyota if you're looking at half tons).
Good point. The Acura, Infinity, Lexus brands were created for North America, they don't exist in Japan. You can buy the same cars but they just carry Honda, Nissan and Toyota brands. The Acura NSX is just a Honda NSX if you buy it in Tokyo.
