This really depends on what the price of gas vs diesel will be in 5-6 years. I doubt you'll have any problems with resale.
Also 16 weeks does sound excessive, but perhaps the dealer is just covering worst case since delays in shipping seams to be the norm these days.
You are also dealing with either a just ending, or potentially starting 2-4 week shut down for the model year change out of the assembly line. WHICH could be adding some time to the issue.
