I know that but do you think when it's time for me to trade in 5 or 6 years, my truck will be undesirable because it is a one ton with a gas engine and not a diesel?
Yes.
Grit dog, perhaps YOU should post REAL WORLD "evidence" that a used gas pickup truck will be "undesirable" down the road..
You seem to be blinded by the idea that everyone WANTS or NEEDS or can afford a diesel. Why the SCARE TACTICS?
Since a diesel truck costs more upfront, folks seem to think that they DESERVE to ask more for it used AND THEY DO. So the used market prices on diesel trucks are often priced way over peoples budgets.
In reality a used diesel is often LESS desirable down the road in the used market due to the HIGHER ASKING PRICES plus added expenses of repairing a USED DIESEL when it breaks down.
Buying a used truck can often be a very risky and expensive proposition to start. Adding in the complexity and expensive parts to repair a diesel could make the truck totally worthless (IE repair or replace a diesel engine block may cost more than the entire trucks value)..
Used Diesel trucks often are high mileage and no warranty to cover expenses of repairs whether it is the engine, transmission, body or suspension.
Folks who are on a budget will often be looking at GAS trucks since it costs LESS to get into one in the used market.
The used market for GAS engine trucks is alive and well and I would expect that trend to continue on..
