I have a rear slide and really like for many of the reasons mentioned above. Shorter to tow, lots of open space when opened. I have had no problems. As far as cleaning before closing what is the difference between a rear slide bed, a dinette slide, or kitchen slide? They all stick out of the TT some where and have the same ability to get wet dirty or whatever. I usually drag an old towel across my dinette and bed slide before closing and it keeps most of he leaves, water and debris of when closing. We love our king bed and like having the hard roof and sides. I talked to people at an RV show and they were saying they were told to stay away from rear slides but I'm not sure by who or why. Find the floor plan you like, do some research on the mfg and decide what's best for you. Everybody likes something different and that's why there are so many floor plans and styles. Spend less time worrying and more time camping
